Note: While the Corsair F-27 is no longer in production it remains a very popular boat, particularly among cruisers. Windcraft usually has one or more used F-27s available.
Corsair's F-27 opened
the new age of multihulls and a new era in popular sailing. It brought
the well known virtues of trimarans-- fast and level sailing -- into
an easily managed boat that is fun for the family and both practical
and economical to own. While superceded in production in 1997 by Corsair's
new F-28 and F-28R, the F-27s still constitute over half of all Corsair
trimarans built to date. Well sought after on the "previously-owned"
boat market, F-27s have continued to maintain their popularity and value
over the years.
The F-27 well may
be the world's most versatile sailboat. With it almost anything is possible.
You can pull into a sandy beach to play, rendezvous for keen racing
competition, cruise scenic coastal waters, loll about in the sun, or
even cross an ocean (Although we don't recommend the latter, it has
been done -more than once.) F-27 owners have done it all and more.
The key to practicality
and adventure is the F-27's unique folding system that enables the floats
to fold in, narrowing the overall beam to less than 8-1/2 feet and making
it a compact, light weight towing package. This only takes a few moments
and is done while the boat is afloat. After haul out and less than 30
minutes for mast lowering and derigging, the F-27 is ready for the road
and can be trailed to the ends of the earth.
The F-27 is a special
boat for a different kind of sailing adventure. If you want to sail
fast effortlessly, without a large crew, and in comfort, this is the
boat for you. Responsive to finger tip control at the helm, the F-27
points high, tacks smartly and is a joy to sail. Acceleration is smooth
and swift. You will never forget the exhilaration of the first time
you catch a 10-12 knot breeze in your sails -- and your crew will not
forget the irrepressible foot-wide smile that spreads across your face!
Yet, the incredible
stability imparted by the floats means dry, low-heel sailing and comfort
for you and your family, whether secure in the center cockpit or spread
out for relaxation and sunbathing on the broad decks and tramps.
Built with advanced
composite materials techniques by Corsair Marine's skilled craftsmen,
the beautifully engineered and finely finished F-27 is strong, light-weight
and durable -- for premium performance and lasting value. To learn more

| Something about sailing a boat brings so many senses and sensations into
play that it's very difficult to pinpoint what it is, specifically, that
makes me like it so much: the sight of sails and sheets overhanging the
water; the foam and spray flying as the bow(s) cut the water; the motion
of the boat; the physical and mental ballet necessary to handle the boat
correctly. A sailboat might just be the most beautiful, sensuous, and
intelligent blend of man ("person")/machine/elements that exists in the
world today. The relationship between the three is the most harmonious
I have experienced so far. Besides, you can have a beer while you do it. |
